Was Nuland Fired for Her Role in the Ukraine Debacle?

Mit der Rede von heute Nacht hat sich Donald Trump maximal von Weltkriegspräsident Franklin D. Roosevelt entfernt, der aufgrund der Kriegserfahrung mit 60 Millionen Toten anschließend zum Internationalisten wurde: Die Struktur des Weltfriedens kann nicht das Werk eines einzigen Mannes, einer einzigen Partei oder einer einzigen Nation sein. “In der Folge entstanden jene internationalen Institutionen wie WTO, UN und WHO, die das Leben der Nachkriegsordnung prägten. Trump fror die Zahlungen an die Welthandelsorganisation sowie verschiedene UN-Fonds inzwischen ein und die Weltgesundheitsorganisation hat er ganz verlassen.Aber: Erkennbar hat Trump das Geschichtsbuch nur selektiv gelesen und das Kapitel über Herbert Hoover (1929–1933) überschlagen. Mit dem Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act von 1930 erhöhte der 31. US-Präsident massiv die Zölle auf über 20.000 Produkte. Sein Ziel war der Schutz der US-Industrie während der Weltwirtschaftskrise: Die Republikanische Partei ist der Auffassung, dass der durch die Schutzpolitik aufgebaute Binnenmarkt dem amerikanischen Landwirt gehört. “Die Folgen waren brutal – auch für Amerika. Es kam zu weltweiten Vergeltungszöllen und der Welthandel brach ein. Hoover beendete die Weltwirtschaftskrise nicht, sondern vertiefte sie. Die Republikaner verloren die Präsidentschaftswahl 1932 und es dauerte 20 Jahre, bis wieder ein Republikaner im Weißen Haus einzog.Fazit: Die Wirkung der Trump-Doktrin, die ihr Erfinder heute Nacht als segensreich pries, wird über Wohl und Wehe dieser Präsidentschaft entscheiden. Wenn seine Vorhersage („Comeback of the Golden Age“) eintritt, wird er als großer Präsident in die Geschichte eingehen. In a ceremony outside the White House on April 2, which the US president dubbed „Liberation Day“, Trump announced sweeping new tariffs on dozens of countries, including high taxes on imports from top US trading partners: 54% on China, 46% on Vietnam, 25% on South Korea, 24% on Japan, and 20% on the European Union. Trump falsely claimed that these tariffs were „reciprocal“, but they were actually unilateral. The White House calculated its duty rate on each nation not based on the tariffs it charges on US goods, but rather according to the trade deficit that the United States has with that nation. |

Januar 2025 haben die US-Aktienmärkte erhebliche Verluste erlitten – trotz der gestrigen Eilnachricht vom denkbaren Waffenstillstand in der Ukraine. Der Nasdaq 100 ist um über zehn Prozent gefallen, der Dow Jones Industrial Average um 6,1 Prozent, und der S&P 500 verzeichnete einen Rückgang von knapp acht Prozent. Im gleichen Zeitraum legte der Dax um 6,1 Prozent zu. Es sind folgende fünf Chaosfaktoren, die in ihrer Summe womöglich den perfekten Sturm für die Globalwirtschaft ergeben. Es sind folgende fünf Chaosfaktoren, die in ihrer Summe womöglich den perfekten Sturm für die Globalwirtschaft ergeben. Chaosfaktor #1: Zollkrieg In schneller Abfolge werden aus dem Weißen Haus Schutzzölle angekündigt, zurückgenommen und dann doch verhängt. So geschehen gegenüber Mexiko, Kanada und China. Zwischen dem nördlichen Nachbarn der USA und Trump kam es gestern zu einem regelrechten Showdown: Nachdem Kanada angekündigt hatte, Stromexporte in die USA mit 25 Prozent zu verzollen, wollte Trump die Zölle auf Stahl und Aluminium auf 50 Prozent verdoppeln. Es blieb bei der Drohung: Kanada setzte wenige Stunden später die Erhöhung der Stromtarife aus und auch Trump nahm daraufhin die zusätzliche Zollerhöhung zurück. Seit heute gelten demnach die zuvor verkündeten Einfuhrzölle von 25 Prozent auf Stahl und Aluminium. Der Präsident erklärte außerdem, dass er die Zölle auf Autoimporte am 2. April „erheblich erhöhen“ werde, falls Kanada nicht andere „ungeheuerliche, seit langem bestehende Zölle“ gegen die USA aufhebe. Er werde damit „im Wesentlichen die Automobilproduktion in Kanada dauerhaft zum Erliegen bringen“, schrieb Trump. Der kanadische Unternehmer und Politiker Doug Ford, der zurzeit als Premierminister die Provinz Ontario regiert, giftete zurück: Trump stiftet weltweit Chaos. Er gewann die Wahlen mit dem Versprechen, die Inflation zu senken und die Zahl der Arbeitsplätze zu erhöhen. Im Moment tut er genau das Gegenteil. Chaosfaktor #2: Inflationsangst Die Zollpolitik hat direkte Auswirkungen auf die Inflation und die Inflationserwartung. Denn für den Zollaufschlag zahlt nur scheinbar der Importeur, in Wahrheit aber der inländische Kunde. Dessen Kaufkraft wird durch die Zölle geschmälert. Einfuhrzölle wirken daher wie eine Konsumsteuer auf eingeführte Waschmaschinen, Mobiltelefone und Automobile. Und selbst wenn die Produkte in den USA gefertigt werden, was Trump sich wünscht, sind die Hersteller auf importierte Rohstoffe (Seltene Erden zum Beispiel) und Halbfertigprodukte (Speicherchips zum Beispiel) angewiesen. Die Weltwirtschaft ist ein komplexes Gebilde, das durch den Freihandel – den Amerika jahrzehntelang gefördert hat – entstanden ist. Der Autarkie-Gedanke des Donald Trump ist daher weltfremd. Chaosfaktor #3: Flash Crash Die Stimmung an den Märkten hat sich rapide vom Optimismus nach den US-Wahlen zu ernsthaften Rezessionsängsten gewandelt, genährt durch anhaltende politische Unsicherheit und eine Reihe schwacher Wirtschaftsdaten. Inflationsangst, Zollkrieg und die ständige Rede vom Decoupling von China führen insbesondere im Technologiesektor der USA zu enormen Unsicherheiten. Alle Businesspläne der glorreichen Sieben (Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia und Tesla) gehen von einer intakten Globalwirtschaft aus, in der sie Handel ohne politische Barrieren treiben können. Ein Ausverkauf von 1,1 Billionen Dollar an der Nasdaq allein am Montag unterstreicht, wie die America-First-Politik von Trump paradoxerweise zu einer Abkehr von US-Vermögenswerten führt. „Die Märkte spielen derzeit Tennis und wir, die Händler, sind der Ball“, sagte Calvin Yeoh, Portfoliomanager beim Hedgefonds Blue Edge Advisors in Singapur. |

Here’s one: in August 2017, after a deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, Trump claimed there were “very fine people on both sides,” praising the racists responsible for the violence. Trump’s alleged Ukraine plan unacceptable to Russia, but NATO doesn’t even want that

Namely, various sources are reporting that his plan includes the freezing of the conflict, with Ukraine becoming some sort of buffer zone between Russia and NATO. It should be noted that the draft of the plan is yet to be released to the public and that most of it is based on speculation coming from earlier proposals by people close to Trump. According to the Wall Street Journal, his team’s proposal includes a condition for the Kiev regime to give up plans for NATO membership in the next 20 years, an armistice that would stop the fighting on the current frontline and the establishment of a DMZ (demilitarized zone). Allegedly, the plan also excludes the possibility of stationing American troops in the DMZ, but envisages that European NATO members, namely the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Poland, take that role. The WSJ report, quoting a “source within Trump’s team”, further posits that the US would “continue to provide military training and support including weapons to Ukraine to help deter further Russian advances“. Trump supposedly plans to enforce his peace proposal by essentially arm-twisting both Russia and the Neo-Nazi junta into accepting it. Namely, if Moscow refuses the proposal, Washington DC will escalate “military aid” for the Kiev regime forces, while the latter would be left to fend for itself if it doesn’t comply with that plan. It should be noted that Trump himself is yet to confirm that the WSJ report is true. “I have a very exacting plan on how to stop Ukraine and Russia. And I have a certain idea, maybe not a plan, but an idea for China,” Trump said in a podcast interview with Lex Fridman, later adding: “But I can’t give you those plans because if I give you those plans, I’m not going to be able to use them.
