War on Iran is part of US plan for global domination: Economist Michael Hudson explains

War on Iran is part of the US empire’s plan to re-impose unipolar dominance on the global financial system, preserve dollar hegemony, and disrupt Eurasian integration, argues economist Michael Hudson.

War on Iran is part of the US empire’s larger attempt to re-impose its unipolar dominance on the global political and financial system, argues economist Michael Hudson. Washington wants to preserve dollar hegemony and the petrodollar, while disrupting BRICS and Eurasian integration with China and Russia. Hudson explained this in the following interview with Geopolitical Economy Report editor Ben Norton. You can read Michael Hudson’s article here: War on Iran is fight for US unipolar control of world. Trump’s “Operation Midnight Hammer.” The Qatar-U.S. Relationship. Is America Sleeping with the Enemy?
The Emirate Is a Firm Ally of Iran
Michel Chossudovsky Jun 27, 2025 In recent developments, in response to Trump’s June 22, 2025 attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Iran’s Armed Forces responded by attacking the Al Udeid Air Force base in Qatar which is the largest US Air Force base in the Middle East. According to Al Jazeera: Iran has responded to Trump’s “Operation Midnight Hammer “by targeting its military assets in the Middle East” including several U.S. military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq. The press reports have not revealed the destruction and loss of life of Iran’s attacks. On Monday [June 23, 2025], Ali Akbar Velayati, an adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, announced that bases used by US forces “in the region or elsewhere” could be attacked in retaliation for US attacks on Iran’s underground nuclear sites the previous day. Later, news agency Reuters cited a Western diplomat as saying there had been a credible Iranian threat against Al Udeid since noon on Monday [June 23, 2025] “Was Al Udeid prepared for the attack? Before targeting Iran’s nuclear sites, reports suggest that the US started taking precautionary measures. Read more |

Media reports confirm that the Trump presidency had ordered on June 5. (Two weeks prior to the June 22 attacks directed against Iran’s nuclear facilities), the removal of some 40 military aircraft from the Al Udeid Air base. One US official who spoke to Reuters said aircraft that were not in hardened shelters had been moved from Al Udeid base. Additionally, he said US Navy vessels had been moved from a port in Bahrain, where the US military’s 5th fleet is located. “It is not an uncommon practice,” the official said. “Force protection is the priority.” Read more |

US’s unwavering support of Israel is tainted by far-right ideology

Editor’s note: Peter T C Chang is former deputy director of the Institute of China Studies, Malaysia. The article reflects the author’s opinions and not necessarily the views of China Up Close. US’s unwavering support of Israel is tainted by far-right ideology; the rest of the West must join the Global South to halt the genocide in Gaza and to prevent the crisis from escalating into a wider regional conflict. Last week, in a dangerous escalation of the Middle East crisis, Israel launched what it described as pre-emptive strikes against Iran. This latest development has further inflamed global protests – including in Western cities – against Israel’s actions, particularly its ongoing blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Trump sends military to repress protests in Los Angeles: US empire’s tactics come home

Donald Trump deployed the US military to repress demonstrations in LA, California, as protesters denounce ICE’s abuse of immigrants. The oppressive tactics used by the empire abroad are coming home.

US President Donald Trump deployed the military to repress demonstrations in Los Angeles, California, as protesters flooded the streets to denounce the abuse of immigrants by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Trump sent at least 700 Marines and 2,000 members of the National Guard. This is the first time in 60 years that a US president has deployed troops to a state without the approval of its governor. The office of California’s Governor Gavin Newsom condemned Trump’s move as an „illegal militarization of Los Angeles”, and filed a lawsuit seeking to block the president and Department of Defense from taking control of a California National Guard unit. Rex 84: FEMA’s Blueprint for Martial Law. The Roadmap Towards “Police State America”

This incisive article by Allen L. Roland on the repeal of civil liberties and freedom of speech in America was first published by Global Research in August 2006, almost 19 years ago. It brings to forefront of debate the ongoing roadmap towards “Police State America.” Civil liberties are being arbitrarily repealed. There is a crackdown on freedom of information. The Lie has become the Truth. A fear campaign is accompanied by media propaganda. Under the Biden administration, there was a process of social submission. Under Trump, there is visibly a process of militarization of law enforcement, namely the de facto repeal of the Posse Comitatus Act. Read the whole article |
The Spectacle of a U.S. Police State: This Is Martial Law Against Americans Without a Formal Declaration of War

Canadian Internet PLatform

By John W. Whitehead and Nisha Whitehead Global Research, June 11, 2025 Reporter: “What’s the bar for sending in the Marines?” Trump: “The bar is what I think it is.“ In Trump’s America, the bar for martial law is no longer constitutional—it’s personal. Indeed, if ever we needed proof that Donald Trump was an operative for the Deep State, this is it. Despite what Trump would have us believe, the Deep State is not the vast numbers of federal employees who have been fired as part of his government purge. Rather, the Deep State refers to the entrenched network of unelected bureaucrats, intelligence agencies, military contractors, surveillance firms, and corporate lobbyists that operate beyond the reach of democratic accountability. It is a government within a government—an intelligence-industrial complex that persists regardless of who sits in the Oval Office and whose true allegiance lies not with the Constitution but with power, profit, and control. The Americans who can’t have healthcare can’t wait to fight another war for Israel
Who else is excited? x
Lauraand Normal Island News Jun 14, 2025 The Americans who can’t have healthcare are ecstatic they are about to get something much better: an unwinnable war in the Middle East. Life just isn’t the same when they’re not fighting an unwinnable war in the Middle East, is it? The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and across the region went so well that millions died and we gave birth to a beautiful baby called ISIS. In a heart-warming story, ISIS grew up to marry Al Qaida and their child, HTS, took charge of Syria, so who knows what unimaginable horrors could be unleashed this time? All I know is war is coming at an opportune moment to save Netanyahu’s political career and help him avoid accountability for genocide. Personally, I can’t think of a better reason to sacrifice American soldiers. Remember kids, it’s antisemitic to not want to die for Israel. Continue reading |

Ross Barkan Jun 12, 2025 This weekend, Democratic voters in New York City will begin casting early ballots for their party’s mayoral primary. Since New York is overwhelmingly liberal, the winner will probably end up mayor of America’s largest city. The victor will command the nation’s most well-funded police and education departments—and a prominent bully pulpit, as President Trump continues to publicly clash with Democratic mayors across the country. The mayor of New York is an instant celebrity. The post, as always, has no shortage of aspirants. But this year’s race is an especially weird one. Wissenswertes yu den Kandidaten |

Colby Smith in New York PublishedDEC 8 2024 130 Print this page Donald Trump said he would not seek to remove Federal Reserve chair Jay Powell before his term expires in May 2026, but promised to push ahead with sweeping tariffs, mass deportations and tax cuts in his first days in the White House. When asked if he had plans to replace Powell, who was tapped by Trump in 2017 and later renominated by President Joe Biden for a second term as head of the US central bank, the president-elect said he did not. “I think if I told him to, he would. But if I asked him to, he probably wouldn’t,” Trump added. Read the whole article |
